2020-2021 University Catalog

Humanities, B.A.

Requirements for Major

Required: 41 semester hours; 20 or more upper division credits; minimum 2.0 GPA.

The BA in Humanities is designed to combine and integrate studies in more than one discipline.  The heart of the program is the interdisciplinary study of two university disciplines.  Students must complete the required Humanities courses listed below and then choose two distinct disciplines, one from each of the lists below. The same discipline may not be selected for first and second disciplines.

Transfer students may fulfill requirements for a Fine Arts discipline with equivalent or appropriate course work in the Fine Arts from another institution.  Consult the Registrar's Office or the Humanities Program Director, Dr. Daniel Scalberg, to help make that determination.

The 3-credit, foreign language requirement can also fulfill the Multnomah University General Education requirement for Diversity.  This requirement may also be fulfilled by transfer credit of college-level modern language course work.

The Humanities Major will not be granted as a second or third major in conjunction with a combination of any one or two of the following majors: English, History, Linguistics (TESOL), Bible and Theology.
