Multnomah University Undergraduate Programs
Multnomah’s Distinctives
Our unique approach to Christian Higher Education is Compelled by the Love of Christ. At Multnomah University we pursue scholarship in relationship with Christ, the creator of all things seen and unseen and the source of wisdom.
As a Christian university, our university core curriculum is central to our students' studies. Multnomah’s core comprises 18 credits in Bible and Theology out of the total credits required in the four-year, undergraduate programs.* The Bible serves as the foundation for wisdom which shapes and facilitates perspective, facilitating a curriculum-wide integration of Christian faith and academic learning in all of Multnomah's programs.
Multnomah’s aim, through the university core, is to bring students to a sound working knowledge of the Word of God and its relationship to other areas of academic study. Also, with God and His Word at work in minds and hearts, students may grow in Christ-like character, maturity in belief, attitude, and lifestyle. Other aspects of the university core engage the humanities, develop critical thinking skills, qualitative reasoning, scientific methodology, and promote their opportunities to contribute to society. The ultimate goal of the core is to produce academically well-rounded students who understand the world from a biblical perspective and who seek to serve Christ in whatever vocation they pursue.

Academic Advising
Each student is assigned a faculty major advisor, usually the Department Chair of the student’s major or minor, who is responsible to assist and give direction to the student’s academic program. Special advising is available for those who are interested in a Pre-law or Pre-seminary track.
Advising staff in the Office of the Registrar provide further support for students. A degree audit system supports faculty advising. This service makes available comprehensive computerized reports of academic status and progress to students through small-group and one-on-one advice sessions with the registrar’s staff.
Through course work, faculty advising, seminars with professionals in Christian ministry, and select internships, the academic ministry programs prepare students for vocational Christian service.
To assist students with career planning, each student must successfully complete GE290 Career Development in their Junior or Senior year. This two-credit course provides a comprehensive exposure to, and practical application of, career development principles. Both ministry and secular opportunities are explored with the goal of wise career decision making.
