Aviation, B.S. (Online)
Graduates with a B.S. degree in Aviation from Multnomah University (MU) will be prepared to enter the aerospace community to serve as professional pilots, instructors and leaders in the aviation field. This 61-credit hour major will seek to integrate theory and practice in a way that will help students lead and serve in a dynamically changing and diverse workplace.
Students enrolled in the Aviation program at MU will receive all flight theory instruction (ground school) through Multnomah University Online and in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 141 regulations (pending approval). Multnomah University will partner with Hillsboro Aero Academy (HAA) in Hillsboro, Oregon to provide students the flight training they need to obtain certification as a professional pilot and all three Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) ratings - single, multi, and instrument. HAA is an FAA Part 141 certified pilot school and accredited through the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC).
Program Outcomes
Graduates of the Aviation program will be able to:
- Discuss how human factors can affect pilot performance and flight safety. (AVS1)
- Discuss how a pilot's understanding of weather factors can affect flight decision making and safety. (AVS2)
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills necessary to fly an aircraft safely and efficiently in normal and emergency operations (AVS3)
- Obtain FAA Commercial Pilot Certification. (AVS4)
- Obtain FAA Certified Flight Instructor Certification. (AVS5)

Required: 61 credit hours; 24 or more upper division credits; minimum 2.0 GPA
